Best Pest Control Termite FAQs
When we receive calls from home and business owners about termites, we get a ton of questions. And rightfully so. They’re part of a nationwide problem, racking up around $5 billion in damage every year. Here are the top 3 questions we get about termites and termite treatment.
1. How did the termites get in?
Here in Wyoming, the only termite we see is the Subterranean, which can get in via contact with soil. That means their most likely entry point is through cracks in the foundation or brick mortar, or through gaps where utilities are piped in. Even if everything is sealed tight on the ground, these crafty buggers can still build mud tunnels to make their way into your home.
2. What does your inspection include?
When we come out to your home or business, we’ll check all levels of your property, basement to attic, as well as outdoor areas for signs of termite activity or damage. We’ll show you what we find, provide treatment recommendations and give you a detailed estimate outlining what we discussed. There’s no need to make a decision on the spot. Termites take their time eating, so you’ll have time to think it over.
3. Is fumigation going to be needed?
Subterranean termites require trenching or rod treating around the structure, not fumigation. Along the exterior of your home’s foundation, one of our experts will apply a chemical solution to the top 2-3 feet of soil. As termites are out looking for food, they’ll get into this chemical and bring it back to the colony where it will be passed to other termites and slowly kill off the whole colony.
